Professor Kamani Hemamala Tennekoon
Professor Kamani Hemamala Tennekoon is an Emeritus Professor of Molecular Life Sciences at the Institute of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, University of Colombo, and a former Professor of Physiology at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo. She obtained her MBBS from the University of Colombo and her PhD from the University of Sheffield, United Kingdom, and is a Fellow of the National Academy of Sciences, Sri Lanka (FNASSL).
Professor Tennekoon has held several senior academic and administrative appointments, including Director of the Institute of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Biotechnology and Senior Professor of Molecular Life Sciences. Her academic and research interests encompass molecular life sciences, reproductive endocrinology, cancer biology, and medical education. She has made a substantial contribution to scholarly research through extensive peer-reviewed publications, competitive research grants, and the supervision of postgraduate students, and her work has been recognized through numerous national and international research awards.
