Professor M. R. Mohideen
Professor M. R. Mohideen is a senior physician, academic, and medical educationist, currently serving as a Consultant attached to the Faculty of Medicine. He holds an MBBS and MD from the University of Colombo and is a Member and Fellow of leading international professional bodies, including the Royal College of Physicians, London (FRCP), Royal Australasian College of Physicians (Honorary Fellowship), and the American College of Chest Physicians (FCCP).
Professor Mohideen has made distinguished contributions to clinical medicine, cardiovascular epidemiology, hypertension research, and health sciences education over several decades. He has held numerous senior academic and leadership roles, including President of the Ceylon College of Physicians, President of the Sri Lanka Hypertension Society, Director of Staff Development, Acting Dean, and Head of multiple clinical and basic science departments. His academic service spans undergraduate, postgraduate, biomedical, and allied health education in Sri Lanka and Malaysia.
His research portfolio is internationally recognized, with extensive peer-reviewed publications, national and international research grants, consultancy roles, and guideline development, particularly in the areas of hypertension, cardiovascular risk factors, non-communicable diseases, health literacy, and medical education. Professor Mohideen has also contributed significantly to curriculum development, quality assurance, faculty development, and national health policy, and is widely regarded as a leader in evidence-based clinical practice and health professions education.
