Dr Ranjan Dias

Visiting Lecturer- Dr Ranjan Dias

Dr. Ranjan Dias is a senior academic and clinician in the field of Surgery, currently serving as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo. He obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the University of Colombo and subsequently completed his Master of Surgery (MS), followed by the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS), Edinburgh.
Dr. Dias has held several senior academic appointments, including Head of the Department of Surgery at the University of Ruhuna, where he also served as Lecturer and Senior Lecturer in Surgery. In addition, he is attached as a Senior Lecturer at the Clinical School of the International Medical University, Malaysia. His clinical roles include serving as an Honorary Consultant Paediatric Surgeon at the Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children, Colombo, and as a Surgeon Commodore in the Sri Lanka Navy Volunteer Force.

His academic and research interests encompass Paediatric Surgery, Paediatric Urology, and Medical Education, with a substantial contribution to peer-reviewed scholarly publications. Dr. Dias is actively engaged in professional service as a Life Member of several national and regional professional bodies, including the Sri Lanka Medical Association, the College of Surgeons of Sri Lanka, and the Sri Lanka Association of Paediatric Surgeons, and serves as a Council Member of the Federation of Associations of Paediatric Surgeons of SAARC.
