Dr. Vinya S. Ariyaratne is a distinguished medical professional, academic, and development practitioner in Sri Lanka. He currently serves as the Honorary President of the Sarvodaya Shramadana Movement, one of the country’s largest community development organizations. With a strong background in community medicine, he is also a lecturer at the Faculty of Medical Sciences, University of Sri Jayewardenepura.
Dr. Ariyaratne holds a Doctor of Medicine degree from De La Salle University and a Master of Public Health from Johns Hopkins University. He has further specialized in community medicine through postgraduate studies at the University of Colombo.
With extensive experience in public health, social development, and community empowerment, Dr. Ariyaratne has played a key leadership role in advancing the Sarvodaya Movement and has contributed significantly to national and international initiatives in health and development. He has also served as the President of the Sri Lanka Medical Association, reflecting his commitment to advancing healthcare and professional excellence in the country.
