Professor Kamani Samarasinghe is a Senior Lecturer in Laboratory Sciences at the Postgraduate Institute of Medicine (PGIM), University of Colombo, and a Consultant Histopathologist with extensive experience in medical education, diagnostic pathology, and biomedical sciences. She holds an MBBS from the University of Ruhuna, an MD in Histopathology from the University of Colombo, and is board certified as a Consultant Pathologist.
Professor Samarasinghe has previously served as Professor and Head of Pathology at the South Asian Institute of Technology and Medicine (SAITM) and held senior academic leadership positions at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, including Head of the Departments of Pathology and Allied Health Sciences. She has also functioned as an Honorary Consultant Pathologist at major tertiary care hospitals in Sri Lanka and as a Visiting Fellow at the National University Hospital, Singapore.
Her academic and research interests include histopathology, breast cancer pathology, gastrointestinal pathology, laboratory medicine, and pathology education, with an extensive portfolio of peer-reviewed publications, postgraduate supervision, and funded research. She has made significant contributions to Biomedical Science and Medical Laboratory Sciences curricula, postgraduate training, national pathology services, and quality assurance in laboratory diagnostics, and has received national research awards in recognition of her scholarly work.
