Researcher in Communication Engineering
Dr. Udesh Oruthota served as a Senior Lecturer for more than 8 years at Sri Lanka Technological Campus. He received his B.Sc. (Hons) degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka, in 2003, and the M.Eng. degree in Information and Communications Technologies from the Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand, in 2008. He earned his Doctor of Science (Technology) degree in Communications Engineering from Aalto University, Finland, in 2016.
He served as a researcher at the Department of Communications and Networking at Aalto University for eight years. From 2011 to 2012, he was with Renesas Mobile Europe Oy, Finland, as an LTE Specialist, contributing to physical layer 3GPP standardizations. He also worked at Sri Lanka Telecom Services from 2003 to 2004, and at Dialog Telekom from 2004 to 2006.
Dr. Oruthota played a key role in several EU-funded projects across diverse research areas (Dirty-RF, METIS, EECRT, EIT-ICT). His current research interests include RF impairment mitigation, coding techniques, multi-antenna systems, power control, device-to-device communication, and heterogeneous networks.
He is a reviewer for major IEEE journals and conferences, as well as for EURASIP journals in the fields of wireless communications, signal processing, and networking.
With over eight years of experience in academic administration, resource planning, and curriculum development, he brings valuable expertise to institutional operations and strategic planning.
