Dr. Anuradha Ranasinghe
Dr Anuradha Ranasinghe is an experienced academic, roboticist, and researcher currently serving as Programme Lead in Engineering and Senior Lecturer in Robotics at Liverpool Hope University, UK. She holds a PhD in Robotics from King’s College London and a BSc (Hons) in Physics from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka.
With extensive experience in higher education, Dr Ranasinghe has contributed to teaching, academic leadership, curriculum development, student supervision, and interdisciplinary research in the UK and Sri Lanka. Her teaching expertise includes Robotics, Electronics, Control Systems, Artificial Intelligence, Sensors and Actuators, Engineering Mathematics, and Intelligent Systems.
Her research interests include robotics, haptics, visuo-tactile perception, multimodal sensing, human–robot interaction, wearable and assistive technologies, embodied AI, healthcare robotics, and intelligent robotic systems. Her research has been published in internationally recognised journals and conferences, including IEEE Robotics and Automation Letters, IEEE Sensors Journal, IEEE Transactions on Cybernetics, and PLOS One.
Dr Ranasinghe has supervised undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD research projects and has served as an external examiner for engineering and robotics programmes at UK universities. She has also contributed to international research collaborations, academic conferences, invited talks, editorial activities, and professional reviewing.
Her academic achievements include being a Runner-up for the Best PhD Thesis in Robotics, receiving an EPSRC Fully Funded PhD Scholarship, and being a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).
Dr Ranasinghe is committed to research-informed teaching, academic excellence, and the development of innovative, human-centred technologies that address real-world challenges across healthcare, engineering, and robotics.
