Visiting Lecturer- Dr. M.A.V.P. Kumarihamy

Dr. M.A.V.P. Kumarihamy is a Consultant Cardiac Anaesthetist and academic with extensive experience in anaesthesiology, clinical pharmacology, and medical education. She holds an MBBS from the University of Colombo and an MD in Anaesthesiology, and has obtained internationally recognised qualifications including the Fellowship of the Royal College of Anaesthetists (FRCA), UK, and the European Diploma in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care (EDIAC). 
Dr. Kumarihamy has broad clinical expertise in cardiac, general, regional, and obstetric anaesthesia, with a strong focus on peri-operative pharmacology, acute pain management, and critical care. She has gained valuable experience in both Sri Lankan and UK healthcare settings, ensuring high standards of patient care and safety.

In addition to her clinical work, she actively contributes to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, particularly in applied and clinical pharmacology, including pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and safe prescribing practices. Her academic interests include the clinical pharmacology of anaesthetic and cardiovascular drugs, as well as rational drug use and medication safety.
