Mr. W.A. Keerthirathne is a senior nursing educator and healthcare administrator with extensive experience in nursing education, clinical practice, and health sector leadership. He holds a BSc in Nursing, a Master of Public Management, and a Master of Science in Nursing, together with several professional qualifications in education management, distance education, and human resource management.
With over three decades of professional experience, Mr. Keerthirathne has served in a wide range of clinical, academic, and administrative roles within the Sri Lankan healthcare and nursing education system. He currently serves as the Principal of the Post Basic College of Nursing and has also held the position of Acting Director of Nursing Education at the Ministry of Health.
He has contributed significantly to nursing education and curriculum development, serving as an external lecturer in BSc Nursing programmes, an examiner for university nursing programmes, and a member of national curriculum development committees. His academic interests include nursing education, healthcare leadership, professional training, and the development of nursing standards and regulations.
Mr. Keerthirathne is also actively involved in professional nursing leadership, currently serving as President of the Sri Lanka Nursing Council and holding leadership roles in several national nursing professional bodies, contributing to the advancement of nursing education and professional practice in Sri Lanka.
